The Maori people of New Zealand, who live near the coast, are far less likely to suffer from joint disease than inland because they eat it all year round. 

Research has found that green-lipped mussels are rich in chondroitin sulphate, glucosamine, Omega-3 and other nutrients that are effective in improving joint health, joint pain and arthritis.
